A fresh water rinse system for the main engine has also been added. ( See new Picture )

Special Note: This vessel has an Articulating Rudder made by Bayview Engineering - cost $7,000.00 - better than a stern thruster for close maneuvering, and without the maintenance.

The hydraulic steering is upgraded to Teleflex Capilano 1250V with the Sea Star ModelBA175-7T. This upgrade was needed for the articulating rudder.

House bank consists of eight GC deep-cycle batteries, plus one 4D start battery (new 2011).

The galvanic Isolator is a DEI model #GI-50/60A-FSP

The engineroom is accessed from opening deck hatches or from a watertight door in the day head. There is a massive amount of storage space in the after engineroom. Access around the engine makes service easy. The engineroom is nicely finished including deck plates and a workbench / tool storage cabinet.
The Hot water tank was replaced in 2013 with a Superstar 12 Gal. model.

Window frames are powder coated aluminum with rounded corners to reduce the number of welds and potential leaks.

All interior lights has been converted to LED's.

Deck hardware is sturdy and high-quality stainless steel with no corrosion and little evidence of staining.

FRP radar arch provides very sturdy support for mast-mounted equipment.

FRP fuel and holding tanks. Stainless steel water tanks.

Boarding astern is from a large swim platform though the transom door or from either of two opening side doors. The covered cockpit is large enough for several deck chairs. The sturdily-built wide sliding aft cabin door provides entry to the full-beam saloon, which is much larger than would be expected in a boat this size. The galley is forward starboard and features granite countertops. There's a comfortable leather reclining chair aft starboard. To port is the convertible L-shaped dinette, storage cabinet and entertainment center. Just forward and down is the day head -- complete with shower capability.

The pilothouse is just two steps up from the salon and is not isolated as on many other pilothouse models. The L-shaped dinette allows three or four guests to enjoy the pilothouse while underway. The dinette converts to a single pilot berth. The helm station is to starboard, and features a sliding helm seat with a moveable bolster for leaning if desired. Forward visibility from the helm station is excellent, and because of the low pilothouse design it's possible to view the aft quarters directly from the helm seat also (unusual in a pilothouse model). Sliding pilothouse doors port and starboard allow easy access to the dock, the foredeck or to the flybridge.

Footwells with high bulwarks provide security when exiting the pilothouse, and the wide, full-size steps to the flybridge make access safe and easy.

The master cabin has a queen bed with custom innerspring mattress by Seattle Mattress, hanging lockers port and starboard, six storage drawers, two storage cabinets, and separate head and shower compartments.

The flybridge has two pedestal helm seats and an L-shaped settee. As with the entire exterior of the boat, the design of the flybridge is uncluttered and intended to be simple to maintain and easy to clean.

Cabin heat is provided by a Webasto diesel-fired forced air furnace. And for fresh air this boat has nine opening windows (including an opening windshield window), five opening stainless steel portlights, and two overhead hatches.

Broker's Comments

This 2009 Helmsman Trawlers 38 Pilothouse appears as nearly new. The gleaming champagne-colored gel coat shines and the stainless steel rails and fittings are unblemished. The beautiful interior is equally clean and well-maintained.

This boat gives the impression of being much larger than its size implies with a very roomy interior and a design that includes a full-beam saloon, a day head, separate master head and shower compartments, and an extended pilothouse that actually serves as a comfortable living area in addition to its piloting function.

The quality of materials and construction are evident with teak and holly floors, beautiful teak joinery, heavy fittings and rails, sturdy deck sections, and thick engine compartment sound insulation.

You'd be hard-pressed to fit more boat into a 40' slip -- and with her Cummins QSB 5.9 230 hp engine she performs frugally at 8 knots, and has power to spare.

This model is extremely well-equipped, including complete Furuno nav electronics, articulating rudder, engine-driven watermaker, entertainment systems, dinghy and outboard horizontally suspended at the stern for easy deployment, and many tasteful interior touches.
