Catalina Yachts has been building boats for over 30 years. The Catalina 36 has been one of their most popular models.
All boats are hand-laid-up fiberglass with bolt on keels. Their bonded hull to deck joints are also mechanically connected.
The large cockpit and wide body provide a very comfortable boat to sail. Frank Butler, the builder and designer, was the first to build a production boat with the open transom and large easy-to-enter companionway hatches. The wide body allowed more livable space below and wide, easy to walk side decks.
A 36' sailboat with two private cabins got the public's attention. Mid range pricing and high quality standard equipment added to their large acceptance.
Frank's boats sail well, hang together in heavy weather, and hold up over time. This boat has been well taken care of and shows well.
Waterline Boats / Boatshed does not independently verify dimensions and capacities, which are reported from seller-provided information and/or literature.

Total # of berths | 6 |

No. of double berths | 3 |
Cabin(s) | 3 |
Sink | 1 |
Shower | 1 |
Heads | 1 heads (Vac flush) |
Entering the boat is easy. Both side decks have opening gates and the drop down swim ladder provides easy access through the transom. The cockpit has a lot of storage and plenty of room to enter the cabin or move forward onto the side decks. Another strong point of this boat is the folding steering wheel which makes getting past the helm easy.
Going below you find the galley to port and entrance to the guest aft stateroom to starboard. The galley has a two burner propane stove with oven. The microwave is built in. A double sink and lots of storage make the galley easy to use. Refrigerator includes a large Freezer.
The engine is located under the companionway ladder with a larger, easy-to-remove-and-replace teak cover.
The main saloon has an L-shaped dinette with a bulkhead-mounted table that can be stored vertically to provide an over-sized seating area or can seat six for dinner. The dinette also converts to a double berth. Opposite the dinette is a two person seating area with table. It also converts to a single berth.
Just forward of the door to the aft stateroom is the Nav. station . It has a swing-out chair and a larger storage compartment under the desk top. The main electrical panel is also located here as well as some electronics.
Moving forward, the head and shower is to port and storage cabinets to starboard. The head has a seat in the shower and a good sized vanity. Moving into the master stateroom you find a V-Berth with a removable filler. Also lots of drawers and lockers.
Going aft through the saloon the guest stateroom provides an oversized berth plus a hanging locker and drawers. As we know there is no privacy on a boat, but distance helps. Having two staterooms at either end of the boat makes a boat larger for when guests are aboard.

Broker's Comments
I'm personally very familiar with the Catalina line of boats, having once worked as a salesman for the Catalina dealer in Seattle. The boats sold readily then, and they do now because there is a lot to like.
This model, having a tall rig, is a better design for our light summer winds and is easily reefed for heavy weather. A strong design feature is having all halyards and running lines run to the cockpit with two sets of stopper blocks on either side the main hatch. The equipment is also covered by the dodger. The dodger includes a hard top called a Wave Stopper. It is a fiberglass cover with canvas attached. The helm station is covered with a Bimini which shelters the driver in any weather.
All of the interior woodwork has been well-maintained and the owner has been diligent with regular maintenance.
This vessel is located at our docks in Seattle. Give us a call and come to take a look.
