Built in Sweden and specifically designed as a long-distance cruiser with a center cockpit well-protected by a windshield. Hallberg-Rassy's website describes the 41 as "...a trendsetter. This was the first boat with a proper walk through to the aft-cabin below deck. The basic principle for the layout...is used to this day... The galley was placed at starboard by the stairs, out of the ways from any passer-by, providing safety at sea and providing full headroom in the whole galley. The chart table on the opposite side was generous and with a real seat in the boats heading direction... Further the HR 41 was a long distance vessel with the keel and rudder separated, and among other things a blue brim around the cockpit, which was slightly elevated, to give room for the passage below deck... 105 units of the Hallberg-Rassy 41 were built during a short but intense period from 1976 to1979, a few were also built until 1981."

The sturdiness and capability of these Hallberg-Rassy's can be judged by the distances they have ventured from Sweden. They can be found lying all over the globe and are regarded as the epitome for serious world-cruisers.

Boat was hauled out April 2011 -- thoroughly inspected (owner reports that there is no blistering) and new bottom paint applied.

Broker's Comments

After five years circumnavigating in a Hallberg-Rassy 35 this world-cruising couple upgraded to their dream boat -- this Hallberg-Rassy 41. Since acquiring the boat in Greece and replacing its engine with a Mercedes-Benz OM601 60 hp diesel they have logged more than 70,000 nm including such high-latitude destinations as Greenland and Cape Horn.

Proven capable of comfortable long-range cruising and well-equipped for safe voyaging, this HR 41 is now for sale at a great price. With a newer suit of sails and many other upgrades throughout its current ownership this vessel is ready to continue its venturing.

The owners will continue to live aboard and cruise Washington waters until sale (offering a great opportunity to learn from their experience which they are very willing to share) so a showing can only be performed by appointment.

This German-flagged vessel has had US import duty paid, and is available for sale to US residents.
