Broker's Comments
This 50' ketch-rigged sailboat (54' 6" LOA) has entirely fulfilled the dreams of a husband and wife team. In the early 70s they embarked on a course to build and live aboard a proper world-cruising ketch. Construction began in 1972 with the plans for a "go anywhere" Samson C Strutter. Design by Cecil (Cece) Norris and professionally finished by Samson's renowned cement artisans. The hull was launched in 1974 with great fanfare, complete with decks, cabin, tanks and engine. The design includes a two stateroom layout with a large galley and salon to provide comfort for living aboard and long cruises. In 1978 masts and rigging were installed. Main sail, mizzen, foresail, 80% jib with a 120% jib added in 1978. The exterior is professionally finished and graceful. A masterfully appointed and fully insulated interior provides for a warm and elegantly classic living space. A full bimini and hard top dodger adds additional living space during spring and summer months. This boat would make a very fine home for someone wishing to live-aboard, and is a sea-kindly long distance cruising sailboat. She's a unique and striking beauty inside and out and is ready for new adventures.
