The Tiara 3500 Open is a very high quality, US-built sport cruiser (www.tiarayachts.com, Holland, MI). The hull is a deep-V designed for quick planing with a stable, dry ride. The hull is built for strength and lightness with a full stringer system and balsa coring in the deck and hull sides. The cockpit and deck are a one piece molding bonded to the hull with a polyurethane membrane and fasteners every six to eight inches. All moldings are hand layups. Even the interior surfaces, including the engine compartment, bilges and storage compartments are gel coated for finished, stain resistant surfaces. All wiring harnesses meet ABYC standards. All deck hardware is recessed and through bolted with heavy backing plates.
The layout features a 67 square foot lower cockpit aft for fishing and water sports and a step to the 60 square foot upper cockpit with the helm to starboard and guest seating to port. The spacious engine compartment is accessed by raising a hatch which is most of the upper cockpit deck on electric powered jacks, including seating, This provides an almost full width opening exposing boat engines and all systems for easy service access. An additional hatch to the engine compartment is located centrally in the forward part of the upper cockpit deck.
A sliding door leads forward down stairs to the galley, salon and master cabin. The engine compartment is reached through a full width hatch on powered jacks that lift most of the upper cockpit deck, completely exposing the twin diesel engines and their systems.
The large fore deck area is molded with a diamond non-skid pattern and is enclosed with a high railing and provides an anchor pulpit which stores the anchor largely out of sight. An electric windlass raises the anchor and chain is stowed in a locker accessible through a deck hatch in the bow.
