Alaskan Yellow Cedar and Western Red Cedar over White Oak frames. Construction began in 1966 at McQueen Boat Works in Vancouver, BC. The hull was completed and shipped overland to the Torronto Shipyards where the vessel was completed in 1969. During the completion in Torronto Mr. Edwin Monk Sr. stayed in contact as a consultant. The Carvel planks were miter cut with a cedar strip glued in then faired to smooth finish. The hull was built as a 48 footer and measures 52 feet overall when including overhangs and stern platform.

This boat is a pilothouse trawler however it has a low rise to the pilothouse from the salon so it feels somewhat like a sedan. You enter the salon from the starboard side of the large cockpit through a uniquely styled bi-fold door. The galley is forward and to port in the salon with a day head to starboard. Two steps up to the pilot house which is quite roomy with seating (that could double as a berth) to port and the helm to starboard. Both sides have sliding doors to gain access to the side decks. Step down a few steps to the forward cabins with the master to starboard, the full size head with separate shower to port and a V-berth cabin forward. All of these separate areas have abundant storage and are very well-lit with large windows. One head is Vacu-Flush while the other is manual.

The Danforth anchor is the main anchor, with all chain rode. The CQR as a spare is connected to a modest amount of chain and 300 feet of line. The cockpit is teak decked and holds a large AC/DC freezer/fridge combo. Fresh and sea water wash downs are connected to hose reels on the port side. A large seating bench holds a lazarette all in very nice condition. The cockpit has a large walk through door to the teak swim platform. The cockpit is larger than many boats this size and is partially covered by the bridgedeck overhang. There is a custom table easily set up for fish cleaning or BBQ accessory items. Side decks are wide with access on both sides to the flybridge deck.

Commentaires du Broker
Edwin Monk Sr., among the most prolific and elite of naval architects, designed many recognizable and popular boats here in the Pacific Northwest. This McQueen's Boat Works Coho 48 Pilothouse shows his practical design in a solid, dry and roomy vessel you could take to Alaska on the adventure of a lifetime, or on an overnight cruise with your local club. She is absolutely loaded with redundant navigation electronics, systems management panels, engine and mechanical spares and many other features. Plus she's roomy and warm and comfortable like a home. Rebuilt engines with built-in copper containment pans beneath, batteries in lead lined boxes, and passive ventilation throughout are just some of the unique features this boat offers. Big, bright windows with easy access to all the exterior living spaces make this yacht very family friendly. And her pretty lines attract attention wherever she goes! Her owners would consider a partial trade for a newer 5th wheel trailer in the 32-36 foot range.
