The Camano 31 is all about the tremendous, unrestricted 360 degree view from the relatively large main cabin, and the speed and fuel efficiency of its unique hull design. While the Camano 31 is not currently available as a new boat, this particular example is an opportunity to acquire one in essentially better than new condition at a very attractive price.

The hull design of the Canadian built Camano 31 is unique and well-regarded for its stability, seaworthiness, and efficiency. The deep, hollow "V" shaped keel provides about 25% of the hull's displacement, and above displacement speeds helps lift the stern so that water runs cleanly off the transom, thus maintaining a more linear speed-fuel relationship up to 18 knots. An additional benefit of the "Keelform hull" is that the engine is mounted in the keel, lowering the center of gravity. The boat heels very little even in tight turns. The owners speak of its stable performance in difficult sea conditions and its fuel efficiency, especially at speeds from 10 - 14 knots that are difficult for planing or displacement hulls of this size. The prop and rudder are protected by a skeg.

The hull layup is solid, hand-laid fiberglass below the waterline, with foam coring above the waterline. The windlass and deck fixtures are backed with metal backing plates. Extensive sound-deadening insulation is used in the cabin floor, making the boat unusually quiet in operation.

This boat features a very nice custom made oval mahogany saloon table with a built in storage compartment deep enough for wine bottles. The original table is also available and provides for conversion of the settee to a double berth. A stainless steel hand rail has been installed along the starboard side under the windows aft of the helm station. New carpets and additional sound insulation were installed in January 2011.

The entire cabin is surrounded with large, vertical windows providing 360 degree views which are a signature feature of the Camano 31. Full curtains can cover the windows and sliding screens are provided for opening windows and the bow compartment Bomar hatch (also with a sliding screen). Canvas covers are provided for the forward windows.

It is stocked with a matched set of four each New Zealand acrylic wine glasses, shot glass and tumblers. Under the microwave is a custom knife storage rack which swivels back out of sight for safe storage of knives in rough weather. Cutting boards, flatware and four sets of matching plates, bowls and mugs are included.

Forward is the main/bow compartment with a "V" shaped double berth 6'5" on centerline with storage underneath. A custom fitted Mahogany CD rack is installed above the starboard V berth.

The galley features a Force 10 propane range, microwave with a built in, swiveling knife rack below, and a NovaKool refrigerator/freezer. Cabin heat is provided by a Webasto 12,000 BTU diesel-fired forced air system. The head features a VacuFlush system with tank level monitor and macerator pumpout. The head was refurbished with four new "duckbill" valves and a new bowl gasket in February 2011.

A sturdy folding helm chair stores out of the way to open up space in the main saloon when not underway. In addition to the navigation and engine instruments, an inclinonmeter, barometer and thermometer are mounted on the aft bulkhead of the main saloon.

For winter storage, two air dryers maintain low humidity levels. An engine room heater and a thermostat controlled electric cabin heater control temperatures.

Canvas covers are provided for the flybridge, the forward windows and a fixed awning over the cockpit (designed without vertical supports so the cockpit area is unobstructed).
