Waterline Boats and the Boatshed System

This Port Townsend office is an extension of Seattle-based Waterline Boats. Established in 2008, Waterline Boats is a yacht dealership and brokerage office with display docks on Lake Union. While we specialize in trawler-style yachts, we are also highly experienced in selling sailboats, motoryachts and all varieties of vessels. Additionally, Waterline Boats is the dealer for Helmsman Trawlers

Waterline Boats’ online presence is powered by the Boatshed system, one of the most effective and comprehensive yacht sales platforms in the world. With the ability to share high quality photos, videos, and virtual tours with thousands of users, the Boatshed system has unparalleled presentation and reach.

This local experience and boat know-how combined with a highly effective on-line platform makes choosing to sell and buy with Waterline Boats easy.

Meet Waterline Boats Port Townsend

The brains behind this newest office is Waterline Boat’s Van Helker. Van has been involved with Helmsman Trawlers since 2017, and more recently is working with Waterline Boats on the opening of this new office. A long-time Washington resident and graduate of the University of Washington, Van is a man with a deep love for boats, and has been spending time on the water since before he learned to walk. There’s no where he’d rather be, and his track record thus far certainly proves that.

As a former NOAA Corps officer, Van trained in seamanship at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Long Island, New York. While an officer he operated research vessels in the Gulf of Mexico and along the Atlantic Coast, and spent many summers on scientific cruises all throughout Alaska’s Aleutian Islands. Following his time in service he continued his appreciation for all things maritime, first as a liveaboard in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood, and then joining the family business of Helmsman Trawlers.

Outside of work, Van still can’t get enough of the seas. On weekends he operates a small oyster farm on north Hood Canal, and loves spending time fishing, crabbing and shrimping in the area with his wife and young son.

Van’s background, combined with his expertise, can-do attitude, and responsiveness to customer needs, makes him the perfect fit to run Boatshed Port Townsend – and help boaters find the right vessel for them.
