The Ford 6.2L engine was replaced in the early 1990's and has approximately 300 hours of operation time. It is very quiet in operation so that cruising under power is done with comfortable noise levels in the pilot house and main saloon. The engine is reached through a door in the main passageway or from above through hatches in the pilot house floor. The engine installation is very clean and well organized. The battery compartment is aft of the engine on the port side and holds three large 12v batteries. There is a freshly refurbished wind generator and large solar panel to maintain the batteries while away from the dock. All systems are easily accessible for inspection and maintenance. The fuel tanks are stainless steel.

The Fisher 46 provides a heavy duty sailing rig with all stainless wire rigging and dual head stays. The main sheet traveler is mounted on the rear of the pilot house just ahead of the mizzen mast and the main sheet is led down the mizzen mast to a sheet winch on the mizzen mast. Large sheet winches on either side of the cockpit aft of the pilot house control the foresail sheets. A track on the front of the main mast is provided for the spinnaker pole.

The sails, which have seen relatively little use and have been kept covered are original and actually appear to be in good condition. The owner added a set of new sails (stored on board) when the boat was brought around through the Panama Canal from Florida to the NW in the early 1990's.

The Fisher 46 is a stoutly-built motor sailer with round bilges and a fishing trawler style hull including a shallow full keel that extends under the prop to the rudder. A standout feature of the design is the large pilot house with reverse raked windows taken directly from the design of a North Sea fishing vessel. This provides for a large, warm dry pilot house with all-around visibility and room for everyone on board. A large "cockpit" area with outside steering station is immediately aft of the pilot house and mizzen mast.

The hull and deck fiberglass layups are very thick with no coring. The hull gelcoat has been "peeled" and an epoxy barrier coat applied. The fuel tanks are stainless steel.

This vessel has just completed an extensive renovation including new windows, hull and topside paint, interior upgrades, running rigging and deck non-skid coating.

In addition, a large, flat deck ahead of the pilot house on top of the deck house provides a large area for seating, dinghy stowage or sunning. Two opening sky lights just ahead of the main mast provide light and access for the forward compartment. The deck house features three large windows on each side which are inboard of the outer rail and protected. The hand rails are teak with full canvas covers. A large deck box is located on the fore deck in front of the deck house and aft of the anchor windlass. The side rails are relatively high from the aft cockpit forward but provide for good drainage.

A wind generator is fitted to the mizzen mast and a large solar panel is installed on the pilot house roof.

The navigation equipment is somewhat dated and the older CRT style radar and is available but not currently installed. Following the extensive renovation the boat is ready for new electronics to the buyers specification. The Datamarine Offshore depth sounder and Navigator Log systems are old but functional.

The large, full visibility pilot house has more than ample space for laying out charts and whatever new navigational electronics a buyer may wish to install.

The engine compartment is directly below the pilot house and accessed through the pilot house floor or through a door in the hall way below. The recently replaced Ford Diesel engine is surprisingly quiet in operation so that the pilot house crew can enjoy comfortable noise levels when underway.

Broker's Comments

The Fisher 46 is a stoutly-built motorsailer built in England and designed upon the North Sea fishing vessel style hull and pilot house. It is a round bilge design with a full-length shallow keel, protected prop and well-supported rudder. This is hull number 8 of 13 of the original production run. One additional Fisher 46 was recently built and is now selling for $765,000.

The type is well regarded as a live aboard and sturdy motor sailer with the emphasis more on the motor part. It makes a very pleasant and economical trawler style yacht with the ability to hoist a full set of sails in a ketch rig with dual head sails and spinnaker as desired. The sails provide a useful stabilizing effect in heavy seas even when cruising under power.

Accommodations are extensive including two large staterooms (in the bow and stern) with a large main salon, separate galley and the very large pilot house on the deck level. Additional berthing is available in the main salon and the pilot house.

On deck there is a large cockpit and steering station around the mizzen mast aft of the pilot house, walk around decks and a very large expanse of deck forward of the pilot house. The deck area is protected by relatively high rails along the sides.

This vessel has just completed a major restoration including hull and topside paint, new windows and new interior finish.
