Commentaires du Broker
The Hood 38 was designed by world renowned yachtsman and sail maker Ted Hood and built in France by Chantiers Wauquiez. They produced a yacht that shows fusion between the styles of boat design at that time. They were strongly built to a high standard with an excellent reputation for seaworthiness and safe comfortable passage-making. The more European sleek lines make her a very attractive looking yacht and so it's surprising when you go below how spacious she is. This is the Mk II, a vastly improved companionway and interior layout from the early boats which were first produced in 1976.
The rig has been designed for short-handed sailing, easy to balance in a blow and with a symmetric spinnaker and custom carbon pole she'd be a dream downwind. The centreboard is easily raised and lowered with a winch just ahead of the cockpit. The decks are uncluttered, the cockpit feels safe and when alongside the cockpit enclosure really keeps out the weather.
Going below she feels like an offshore yacht. The companionway steps are wide and secure with handholds in the right places. Big hatches and lots of headroom give a lovely feeling of space and with the traditional interior finishes again the Euro/American style comes through.
The cabins have good light and ventilation and there seems to be storage everywhere, ideal for long distance cruising, living aboard or just not having to take everything home with you.
She's due out of the water May 2024 for her yard period but even so she presents well, fresh and dry below and clean and tidy on deck. To me this is a 'go anywhere' yacht, built to cross oceans but with the ability to explore the coast when you get there.
