The block of the original engine was cracked in the winter of 2009, so the owner repowered the boat with a brand new Chevy 383 Stroker Block built to spec for Volvo applications with fresh water cooling. The new engine has only 8 hours it, while the boat has only been used 56 hours total. The engine has 5 years left on the warranty.

This well built Monterey 250 Sport Cruiser has a great layout and many nice features that set it apart from other express cruisers in its size range. It has a large swim grid for easy boarding and a concealed stainless ladder for swimming. The transom has a ski tow eye for water sports, plus a lazarette for fender and line storage. The cockpit has an aft bench that is removable to create more room for fishing, extra coolers or standing room. The helm seat is a back-to-back seat with flip-up bolster that is convertible to a sun lounger. There is a sun lounger to the portside, plus a wet bar area with sink and built in cooler with overboard drain. Access to the bow is through molded steps on the companionway door. Enter the saloon through the companionway and the galley is to the portside. It includes a single burner electric stove, dual voltage refrigerator/freezer, microwave, plus a stainless steel sink with hot/cold water. To starboard is the enclosed head with Vacuflush toilet and tank watch monitor. Forward is the saloon table with U-shaped seating that converts to a comfortable double berth. There is a built-in 15" Flatscreen TV with DVD player facing the V-berth/dining area. The mid-berth in the aft portside of the saloon sleeps two adults or can be used to store extra gear.
